100% lokta is a small shrub – the Nepalese daphne.
Handmade papers originating from the "mountains of eastern Nepal" are crafted from the bark fiber of the lokta plant, which grows above 3000 meters in the Himalayan foothills. This is a renewable resource, and the collection of fibers and papermaking create valuable employment in mountainous regions. Dyeing is carried out in the Kathmandu Valley.
These papers are non-absorbent and can be used with pen and ink for calligraphy, for collage, or for wrapping.
Vibrant colors, smooth burnished surface. Slight variations in shades may be observed
