Founded in Florence in 1856, Giulio Giannini & Sons is one of the oldest bookbinding workshops still in operation worldwide. Today, the sixth generation of the family, led by Maria, continues this artisanal tradition in a small shop tucked near the Palazzo Pitti, in the craftsman’s district of the Oltrarno. The Giannini bookbinders work with parchment decorated with gold leaf and hard covers made of dyed leather, drawing inspiration from designs dating back to the 14th century. A true emblem of its era, the Giannini workshop has played a key role in shaping what is now known as the "Florentine style" of bookbinding.

Florentine paper prints, also known as Florentine engravings, are prints that were produced in Florence, Italy, from the 16th to the 18th century. Often based on original drawings or paintings, they were printed on high-quality paper using a hand press. These prints were highly valued for their artistic excellence, meticulous detail, and technical refinement.
